Dr. Hayden Matz serves as the director of the Dry Eye Center at Optique, in addition to providing comprehensive eye care. His great interest in dry eyes led him to seek in-depth training with dry eye specialists Dr. Amy Nau and Dr. Don Korb at one of the most well-renowned dry eye centers in the world. Dr. Matz has taken the knowledge and techniques gathered over the years and brought it to Optique, creating a state-of-the-art center focused around the treatment and management of dry eyes.

Dr. Matz received his bachelor’s degree in Biology and Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh while also working as a technician in a local optometry practice. He went on to Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale where he graduated with a Doctorate of Optometry. While there, he gained experience through an extended externship at the William Kling VA Center, as well as clinical rotations through contact lens, pediatric, and ocular disease clinics. During his time in school, he served on the Executive Council for the American Optometric Student Association and was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa and Gold Key Honor Societies.

Dr. Matz is currently a member of the Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians, American Optometric Association, and the American Academy of Optometry. He enjoys spending his free time hiking with his wife Tyler and playing with their miniature dachshund Beans.
